Empowering Women Farmers in Vanuatu
In Vanuatu, women are the backbone of horticultural production, but climate change is making their livelihoods more vulnerable.
Cyclones and erratic rainfall can devastate crops, threatening women’s income and local supply chains. MDF is partnering with a female aggregator to connect women farmers to the Holiday Inn, ensuring a consistent supply of produce like bananas, taro and passionfruit. By encouraging women to diversify their crops, this initiative will help to safeguard their income and #accelerateaction to reduce vulnerability to climate shocks.
Once the model is fully operational, MDF will focus on enhancing information flows to farmers in the network to improve their resilience to climate-related shocks.
